Lizzy and Henry are just trying to survive in their boring suburban town. They’ll do whatever they need to do including lying, cheating, and stealing. They first meet when Henry runs over the man that Lizzy is running from and they join together to dispose of the body. However, unknown to the other, each are running from more than just this crime and lying to the other about it all. Joining together to avoid getting caught for killing a man will solidify their criminal partnership, even if they aren’t sure if they can trust the other.
CHARACTER AESTHETIC BOARDS AND BREAKDOWNS
Henry is a 22 year old, unemployed, college dropout, and criminal. Or so we first think.
Henry is in desperate need of money. He has been recently fired from his job because his jerk co-worker kept playing pranks on him leading Henry to punch him in the face. On the autism spectrum and severely misunderstood, Henry needs money to help his mom pay for rent and bills. She is a teacher and began also working retail when Henry’s dad left 10 years ago.
Henry is highly intelligent, but lacks street smarts.
Lizzy is a 31 year old unemployed drug addict. Or so we first think.
Her primary narrative in the beginning of season one is as a drug addict looking for anyway to get her next fix. However, we soon find out she needs the drugs to manage the pain from her degenerative eye disease slowly making her go blind. She can’t keep a job because of how the disease is affecting her life and thus, has no insurance. Getting her drugs from her shady drug dealer is the only way.
Lizzy jumps into this life of crime because she needs the money and ultimately feels like she doesn’t have much to lose since she has lost and is losing so much already.
Deans acts as more of a prop for most of the first episode of the series, but quickly becomes an important character who Lizzy and Henry have to cross in order to survive.
Dean works for Mitch, the drug dealer whom Lizzy buys product from weekly and owes money to.
Dean is the enforcer and security guard for Mitch, but there is so much more to him that just muscle and intimidation.
Mitch (Michelle) is a shady drug dealer. What we don’t see at first is her ailing mother who she takes care of.
She began buying drugs on the black market for her mom when insurance stopped paying for them and has grown into a bigger role of dealer over the years. Her specialties are pain meds and pharmaceutical drugs.
Mitch is only seen once in episode 1, but becomes a bigger part of the story as it unfolds.
